Privacy
OpenImmersive is built with a simple rule: your data is yours. Here's exactly what that means in practice.
No data collection
We don't collect your browsing history, translated content, or any personal information. Full stop.
No telemetry
The extension doesn't phone home. No analytics, no crash reporting, no usage tracking.
API keys stay local
If you bring your own key for DeepL, DeepSeek, or OpenAI, it's stored only in your browser's local storage and is never uploaded anywhere by us.
Open source & auditable
OpenImmersive is pure JavaScript with no build step. Every line is on GitHub — read it, audit it, or fork it.
What does leave your device
To translate text, the text you select is sent directly from your browser to the translation engine you chose (for example Google, MyMemory, or your own DeepL/OpenAI account). That request is governed by that engine's own privacy policy, not ours — we simply never see it. The same is true for the translation demo on this site.
